Not Art is the sophomore release from acclaimed Melbourne indie outfit Big Scary. The album title and artwork—masterfully photographed by Adam Stone—challenges existing notions of what constitutes art. Is it something we deliberately aim to create or is it the result of natural and undesigned expression? It certainly became a talking point for many music reviewers. Deservedly, Not Art gained plenty of industry recognition, racking up nominations for best independent release at the ARIAs, Triple J album of the year and an AIR award for best album. To top it off, the band were also named winners of the $30,000 Australian Music Prize joining a coveted list of artists including the likes of The Jezabels and The Drones.
